EXCELLENT Based on 73 reviews john B11/11/2024Verified A wonderful multi experience adventure! Absolutely brilliant local tour company. Cheerful even in torrential rain. The care and expertise Ramiro, Lilia and team showed us was truly outstanding. A totally unique and diverse experience that encompassed night safaris, zip wire, river trips on the Amazon, trekking, overnight camps, a visit to local market and a detailed introduction to cultures and customs of the region. All of the team showed in depth knowledge of local wildlife, flora and fauna. 5*****plus! M K28/09/2024Verified Ayahuasca ceremony I booked a tour by Lilian for a Ayahuasca ceremony because it was recommended by a German couple. We were driving into the primary rain forest and walked 30 minutes through it. Lilian took care of me (us) and supplied us with fruits and water. The shaman was amazing! He was so helpful and engaged to introduce me to his ceremony. Everything felt so honest and real, which was a big relief for me since I have heard of westernized Ayahuasca ceremonies in Iquitos owned by Americans for 500-700$. I was afraid in the beginning that I will be another "Western Ayahuasca tourist" but I did feel so welcome. You will not be stuck with 20 people in a luxury lodge, but get an honest inside of the spirituality of the amazonian rainforest. I understand why so many people recommended Lilian and I will recommend her as well. The tour included two long taxi rides, food, drinks, staying over night in the jungle (equipment if necessary) and the ritual itself (390.000 COP/95$ as a solo tour). Steven H24/06/2024Verified Great experience We could not have asked for better guides to help us with our family vacation to the Amazon than Ramiro and Marcella. They helped us every step of the way, from the moment we arrived in Leticia to the moment we departed. I told them what we wanted to do, and they made everything work perfectly. Ramiro and Marcella are extremely knowledgeable and wonderful people. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a trip to the Colombian Amazon. Francesca F19/06/2024Verified Third visit with Amazon Maguta Lodge and Tours Back for a third visit with my friends Lilia and Ramiro! They are such warm and friendly people, truly interested in everyone whom they take out for tours, and they're absolutely willing to be guided by your interests and desires. Do you want to climb an açai palm? They'll help you with that! Do you just need to be picked up at the airport on your way to a prearranged tour? that's fine too.One important thing you should know: the company name is slightly different now: the name is "Amazon Maguta Lodge and Tours," so search on that for their new website. Tobias12/06/2024Verified One of the best experiences I've ever had!! In May 2024 I did a 3 day tour with Amazon Maguta. It was wonderful. The first night we slept in hammocks and cooked only over fire. It was very adventurous, I really recommend you to do that if you´re planning a trip!! More jungle is hardly possible ;) Ramiro and our boat driver did their best to spot animals all the time. We did a lot of exploration tours. But there was also enough time to rest. The organization was top. Everyone was on time, agreements regarding activities were kept and requests for food were taken into account. We spent the second night in a simple lodge. We had the lodge just for ourselves, which was very laid-back. I got a fever that night. The next morning I was looked after wonderfully so I could complete the tour. Back in Leticia Ramiro drove me to the hospital to do some tests. Even though the tour actually was over, Ramiro accompanied me to translate and help. He didn't have to do this, but he did. He even invited me to his private house so that I could wait for my flight and sort out my luggage. He, his family, the boat driver and his friends (with whom he shares the company office) are simply wonderful people. Thank you so much!! I can highly recommend this agency!!! It was an unforgettable experience. You will certainly find cheaper providers in Leticia but trust me, quality has its price. Especially in the jungle.... I speak from experience ;)If you are looking for an authentic and well organized tour, away from tourist crowds and "flat" activities, Ramiro is your man. It's definitely worth it, you will not regret it!Again, thank you so much Ramiro! Cheers to you guys in the Amazon ;) Stephen M18/02/2024Verified Super helpful and nice guides and trip planners Eso: No pensa que es un lodge--Ramiro y Lilian te hazarán toutes a varias lugares como quieres. Son de aquí y conocen muy bien toda la región, la naturaleza, la gente, etc. Son muy amables y muy ayudantes.Eng: These guys are great. It's worth the cost to have them organize a tour for you. They know every area, plant, animal, local guide and more. They are also very nice and helpful, and clearly enjoy sharing this unique area with visitors. Nika A15/02/2024Verified An experience we will never forget - a dream come true, surely Our trip to the Amazon wouldn't have been the same if we hadn't done it with Amazon Maguta! We booked a 3 day tour that included Tanimboca, Marasha Reserve and Maikuchiga in Peru and we loved every minute of it. Ramiro was super helpful during the planning of our tour, included all my wishes for accomodation, tours, trips, food etc and Alan, our guide, was great, spoke perfect english, was knowledgable and flexible. We were excited to be sharing parts of our tour with another Italian couple who booked with Ramiro and their guide Patrick was also great! We made friends for life on this tour and we're forever grateful :) During the three days it was just the 6 of us anywhere we went - and the locals of course. We especially loved the indigenous people in Marasha, who we celebrated Christmas with and who were so warm and kind to invite us to share a Christmas dinner with them. The nature and wildlife you experience in the Amazon is also something out of this world. I had a heard time believing my eyes most of the time! Unreal. The amazing nature that looks like straight out of a movie, so many beautiful birds, frogs, reptiles, snakes, spiders, huge fish, little piranhas that we were fishing for ... We were also lucky enough to see a huge anaconda in the tree when we got a little lost in one of the river canals - an experience we will never forget and one that we couldn't plan for in a million years! A dream come true for sure. (&A huge thanks goes to Ramiro's brother who was driving our boat, for the perfect manoeuvring through the rain forest, the fallen branches, sunken trees, thick, dense jungle - at all times. Hats off!)Thank you so much Ramiro, Alan and Patrick and we wish you all the best in the future. And for anyone looking to experience the Amazon - I highly, highly recommend a tour with them for a personalised, private and authaentic experience! If you have any questions regarding our experience and our trip please ask me :) saltysail0r17/01/2024Verified Had A Ton of Fun! Be Sure to Request Ramiro as Guide! If I am being honest, my trip to the Amazon was closer to a 4-star experience, but I am bumping my review up to 5 stars because Ramiro and Lilia are wonderful people and some of the negative parts of our trip were not explicitly their fault. First, Amazon Maguta JUngle Lodge does not exist anymore. Instead, Ramiro and Lilia (who used to run the Amazon Maguta Lodge) now operate Amazon Maguta as a tour company. Lilia and Ramiro are highly responsive via WhatsApp and helped us craft a great trip itinerary that matched the desire of me and my partner to observe birds in the Amazon. If you are organizing a trip with Maguta, I would recommend that you explicitly ask for Ramiro to be your guide. After having read so many great reviews about Ramiro’s guiding skills, we were a little disappointed and surprised to learn that Ramiro would not be guiding us because he was with a different group. Instead, they had booked another local guide to accompany us on our five-day journey. We were also surprised to learn that they had changed our itinerary from what was originally sent to us – we would be staying at a different lodge than originally planned. We understand that organizing logistics can be challenging in a place like the Colombian Amazon, but we had messaged them about a week prior to our trip to confirm that everything was in place and never heard anything about the change in itinerary. This would not have been an issue if they had just let us know about the changes in advance. Lilia and Ramiro did a great job coordinating in advance all activities during our trip, including early-morning boat tours and night walks. Many of these activities were with the knowledgeable local guides who worked at the lodges where we were staying. All meals and transportation were also taken care of. However, we were a bit disappointed that while most transport boats we saw had seat backs, the boat Maguta uses for transportation does not, which made for some long and uncomfortable boat rides between destinations. The biggest problem we had on our trip was with our guide, who again was NOT Ramiro. My partner and I are fairly knowledgeable about birds and quickly came to learn that our guide was not great at identifying bird species. He would routinely tell us that birds we saw are species that do not exist. Also, though we told Ramiro and Lilia that English was preferred, our guide did not seem to get the message and spoke to us mostly in Spanish even though his English was quite good and our Spanish was just okay. Worst of all, our guide did not join us when we woke up for an early morning zipline (despite telling us he would be joining) at Tanimboca reserve. The staff running the zipline only spoke Spanish and my partner and I had some difficulty with the equipment – we really needed our guide as a translator during that experience. Despite the negative, I would still definitely recommend that others visiting Leticia organize their trip to the Amazon through Maguta. We honestly had a ton of fun and appreciated that Lilia and Ramiro were regularly in contact with us to make sure everything was going okay. Just be sure to request Ramiro as your guide! Gauthier E09/12/2023Verified Amazon adventure My journey in the Amazon under the guidance of the exceptional Romero was extraordinary. From the initial pickup at Hostel Leticia by Ramiro and Lilia to the mesmerizing views of the Amazon, every step of the adventure was filled with a perfect blend of excitement and wonder.Throughout our trek, Ramiro shared valuable insights into the ecosystem, cautioning us about snakes while unraveling the mysteries of the rainforest. The cultural immersion at the Maloca was a highlight, offering river baths and traditional rituals like the tobacco ceremony, which added an authentic touch to our Amazonian experience. The evenings spent by the campfire were magical, with Zorro’s captivating stories, luminescent trees, and the gentle hum of fireflies creating an enchanting atmosphere. Our exploration extended to Santa Sophia and other villages like Mocagua and Marasha, providing intriguing glimpses into the diverse Amazonian communities. This journey wasn't just an adventure; it was a cultural immersion. In summary, this Amazonian expedition, guided by Ramiro, transcended the typical tourist experience. It was a transformative journey into the heart of the rainforest and its people, leaving me immensely grateful for the memories and insights gained. Without hesitation, I highly recommend this authentic and enriching Amazonian encounter to fellow adventurers seeking a profound connection with nature and culture alike. Sunshine1901622674007/12/2023Verified A perfect trip for people who want to experience both nature and local culture. The three-day trip organized by Ramiro and Lilia, but led by Tom, was very interesting. Tom is a member of the Ticuna tribe, but he speaks excellently English. He gave us much info about the nature and local culture. He knew almost all plants, insects, birds and animals we met. We liked the museum at Mocagua village and were surprised by the description of strange and painful ceremony of girls who had come to adulthood. The night trips to the forest and in boat were very mindlifting. The tarantulas, frogs and centipedes were very cute. The thunderstorms were also excellent! We wish to thank also the local guides at Mocagua and Marasha! We recommend everybody to visit the Amazon region, and especially through Ramiro and Lilia agency.

We took the package comprehensive of 2 nights at La Ceiba (Colombia) and 1 night at Marasha (Peru). The experience was amazing and very well organized. Ramiro, being born in a village in the amazonas, turn out to be a great guide who knows the ins and outs of the life in the amazonas. He speaks english very well and can answer comprehensively to any question. It was a pleasure also to get to know his wife and his life story.
